The key to a great product is to first research and identifying the market to which you will sell.
Important questions to ask
What are my hobbies?
What am I passionate about?
What do I have experience in?
Where can I find customers online? and Where can you find the customers for your product or service?
Below are resources to help you determine who will be interested in your product or idea and what joint venture partners you can contact later. You can use them in any particular order and continue to use them throughout this whole process.

- www.yahoo.com Do a search for key words, and if have a website for a certain product do a keyword search for that and see what websites are our there because if they are listed in the top of yahoo, they get a lot of traffic. Make a list of websites you find on yahoo because these are people who can sell your product and make you money quickly.

- Find sites that are linking to certain sites by typing “link:www.webaddress.com”

Where do your customers network? Here you can see the discussions that are going on in the newsgroups about a subject. You can see what people are talking about.
1. Look for people’s frustrations- when you go into the Google news groups and you search for key words; notice the kind of discussions that are going on. What kind of problems are people having and what things are they frustrated with? Great ideas for new products often come by identify what people’s problems and frustrations may be in a certain area and providing solutions.
- www.overture.com Who are selling to these people in the news groups? Do a search with this tool and see what people are spending on keywords for their subject. See what websites are advertising here. Instead of placing the ad yourself wouldn’t it be a lot less risky in the beginning to have them promote your product if they are already paying for the ad? Also notice how much people are bidding which will help you determine if paid advertising will be an option or if you will just being using JV marketing.

- Product ideas from magazines- A tremendous tool for identifying great products, frustrations and problems are magazines. Some of the best ideas can come from magazines. You might think that is crazy and that only online resources should be used and some people will not listen and make a grave mistake because they think everything has to be online. More can be learned about target markets from magazines. They are a great source for joint ventures but you would be sending articles or press releases for print. Go look at all the niche specific magazines and the headlines used. Magazine editors deal with hundreds of thousands of people in some markets and they have to know how to motivate people to buy their magazine. What articles and headliners are going to draw and attract you to pick up the magazine? Again look for frustrations and problems people express in letters to the editor and train your mind to look for product opportunities.

- Buzz.yahoo.com (no www) Find out the most searched for keywords in yahoo and commentaries on why the keywords are being searched for so much.

- www.Amazon.com Repeat the same steps and go to their “best selling” section and identify the best selling software and books. What kind of books are people buying?
- www.associateprograms.com A great place to find top affiliates. There is a wealth of information here. Remember you don’t have to be the expert, but you need to know how to find the expert. Identify people that you could interview on certain subjects of interest that could be used as a unique angle for your product.

Do the same for “Paperback Non-Fiction”. Here are 100 ideas that are already selling well. Notice how may of them are in the same general subject. Words are copyrightable, but ideas aren’t. Many of these books will show you benefits that will spark other ideas for new books. The same can be done with electronics.
- The Bookstore- Many of you will laugh and never listen to this advice, but it is some of the best and is an amazing place to develop ideas. Pick up a magazine and start looking for potent ional report ideas. If you read a motorcycle magazine you may find all of these ideas in just one issue of the magazine: “How to choose your first motorcycle,” “Quick and Easy Methods to Customize Your Bike.” All of the above ideas were generated from the letters to editor section.

The U.S. government publishes thousands of documents each year. Many of which are in public domain. Some of these may give you ideas for upcoming products. This could be a great tool to help supplement your product with hard statistics and data. It is possible that you find that the government has already done a bulk of the research in regards to your topic and it’s free. You can use it in your ads. www.forumone.comTo help you in the process of finding hot internet products, start participating and visiting online forums everyday. You can find thousands of them about everything and anything. Choose the one’s that you’ve seen that have the most traffic. Participate in conversations and look out for questions people are consistently asking. You can also scan the board and look for the subjects that have the most posts. Use the publications that the government puts out and turn them into products. Analyze Your Competitors- Look around all of the websites and find people that are selling a similar product. If you have money and interest, buy it! Take notes on what it’s like, what’s in it, how they target the market and what their offering. If you buy the product you will see what they’re missing and what you could do better. The only way to win in a saturated market is develop strong offers, great sales copy and memorable brand.
